Visible Polarizers

Reflective or absoptive wire-grid polarizers for the optimized for the visile spectrum

Moxtek visible polarizers deliver exceptional polarization performance for imaging, projection, and analytical applications across the visible spectrum. Their reflective wire-grid polarizers offer high transmission, contrast, and durability—ideal for demanding optical systems requiring wide angle-of-incidence performance and environmental stability. Meanwhile, their absorptive glass polarizers provide excellent extinction ratios and uniformity in compact designs where stray reflections must be minimized. Together, Moxtek’s polarizers offer versatile solutions for high-performance polarization control in both reflective and transmissive configurations.

Foundry Services

Moxtek collaborates with customers to design, verify, and create solutions for high-volume manufacturing. They provide options for prompt design iterations and NanoImprint Lithography (NIL) optimization. Moxtek uses Statistical Process Control (SPC) monitoring of post-print Critical Dimension (CD) repeatability.

Moxtek offers prototyping samples through their recurring Design Master Shuttle. This NIL Design Master Shuttle includes space for multiple (different) design structures, allowing engineers to test several designs on a single shuttle iteration, thereby reducing development time and cost. They can add a customer’s unique design to their next Design Master Shuttle for prototyping the latest lens or nanostructure optical device. These design shuttles are processed multiple times each year.

Moxtek has been producing nanostructured optical components for over 20 years. They offer high-volume wafer replication of nanostructure devices on Ø200 mm wafers. Their versatile capabilities are used to manufacture functional metasurfaces, including metalenses, meta-optical elements (MOE), diffractive optical elements (DOE), patterned nanostructures, waveguides, photonic crystals, and biosensor arrays. These devices are used in imaging, illumination, and display systems for a wide range of applications, including automotive, medical and dental imaging, camera systems, and many others.

Advanced Nanostructured Optics and Polarization Solutions
Why choose Moxtek’s visible polarizers over polymer film polarizers?

Because their inorganic construction offers higher tolerance to heat and high-flux conditions (e.g., light-engines, projectors, laser systems) than typical polymer polarizers.

What is the maximum angle of incidence (AOI) at which performance is maintained?

They maintain performance for greater than ~20° half-angle without performance loss.

Can these polarizers be customized (size, coating, axis etc)?

Yes - you can configure parameters such as size, shape and transmission axis.

Are there any special handling or mounting considerations?

Yes - since they are wire-grid type (nano-wire based), they are more delicate than standard polarizers. Proper handling, packaging (e.g., clamshell containers) and mounting to protect the grid is important.

Are there protective coatings?

Yes. Overcoat™ technology can be applied for easier cleaning and added environmental durability.
