The BC-1 Input Coupler is a convenient way to launch a free-space CW or pulsed laser beam into an optical fi ber

The BC-1 Input Coupler includes focusing and alignment optics, a 1"-diametermounting disk, and an FC-style fi ber-optic connector. Awell-collimated laser beam enters the aperture in thecenter of the mounting disk and is focused into a fi ber-opticpatch cord that is attached to the FC connector. Built-inoptics provide two slightly off-axis back refl ections tofacilitate alignment using a standard two-axis angularoptical mount.Two different versions of the BC-1 Fiber-Optic InputCoupler are available. The “F” version is for use withsingle-mode fi ber (nominally 9 μm core diameter) and istypically used with CW lasers. The “D” version is a moreconvenient way to launch pulsed lasers into fi ber becauseit is adjusted for larger diameter multi-mode fi ber(nominally 60 μm).
